Sports in school are so important for the wellbeing of our children. Exercise and the chance to take part in fun, competitive activities is an invaluable part of learning, helping children use up spare energy, keep healthy, and get some relief from the stresses of school life.
Based at NEAT Academy’s Benfield School, the Newcastle PE and School Sport Service provides high quality PE and sporting opportunities to children and young people across the whole of Newcastle upon Tyne.
All NEAT schools have direct access to the fantastic range of events, activities, and competitions organised by the sport service.
Some of the events our schools have played a key part in include (just to mention a few!):
- The annual Newcastle Primary Schools Dance Festival.
- Numerous Health Active Lifestyle Events.
- The North East-Wide School Games.
- Regular Primary School visits to the exceptional facilities at Benfield School.
In addition to having access to excellent facilities and programmes at school, children at NEAT also have access to some great activities made possible through our partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation, including the possibility to meet some of our city’s footballing heroes!
